Jacobs defeats Boland for State Senate Seat

What was expected to be a close race for Illinois Senate in District 36 turned out to be a 10% victory for incumbent Mike Jacobs.

What was expected to be a close race for Illinois Senate in District 36 turned out to be a 10% victory for incumbent Mike Jacobs.

Long time Illinois Representative Mike Boland had hoped to unseat Jacobs in a race that was tightly contested from the beginning. In his concession speech Mike Boland hinted this wouldn't be his last race, and he may be running again for the 36th District's Senate seat.

"As long as there are people like Mike Jacobs that don't help people that they're supposed to, that don't represent the ideals of the democratic party I'll still be around," says Boland.

While Boland contemplates what's next for his political career Jacobs will be moving forward and focusing on his upcoming general election race will have him squaring off with republican Bill Albrecht.
