Police pursue alleged erratic driver from Bettendorf to Walcott

Police followed a vehicle on I-80 for more than ten miles before it crashed and the driver was hurt.

It all started in Bettendorf, Iowa at around 10 a.m. Monday, March 19, 2012.  Officers observed the vehicle moving erratically.

Police followed the vehicle on Interstate 74 and then westbound on I-80.

Speeds during the pursuit reached approximately 85 miles per hour.

Police said the male driver pulled over at mile marker 295 where he exited the vehicle, got something from the trunk and then drove away again.

The vehicle continued westbound on I-80 to near Walcott, Iowa where it crashed at about the 286 mile marker.

Police said they found a weapon in the vehicle.

Bettendorf Police said they will file four charges against the driver:  interference with official acts, running a stop sign, speeding and eluding police.
