Police search for alleged arsonist

Moline Police are searching for a man they say set fire to a house in early March.

An alert city worker spotted smoke coming from the eaves of a house in the 2800 block of 17th Street Place just after 2 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2012.

It took about 15 minutes to bring the fire under control.  No injuries were reported.

Fire investigators said arson caused the fire.

Police have issued a warrant for John William Marx, 42, in connection with the arson.

Marx’s last known address was in Rock Island, Illinois.
