An early Monday morning fire has left two families without a home today.

Fire broke around 3:30am in the 1500 block of 8th Avenue in East Moline’s Watertown Neighborhood.

Fire officials say when they arrived on the scene, the entire right half of the duplex was fully engulfed in flames.

The fire spread to the left side of the residence before firefighters were able to put the fire out.

Both families were able to escape without injury, but fire officials say the home has significant fire, smoke, and water damage.

The American Red Cross of the Quad Cities is helping those families this morning.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
