Davenport Police say they raided a house at 3317 Kimberly Downs Road around 7 a.m. Wednesday, March 7th. Inside, investigators say they found an active meth lab, including weapons, finished product, and manufacturing materials.
Police said they arrested three men who live in the house: Travis Meier, 20; Leslie Wade Hardin, 41; and Steven Michael Gruetzmacher, 46. The three men were held in the Scott County Jail.
Police also blocked off most of the street while waiting for a clean-up crew from Des Moines to drive in and clear the volatile chemicals and equipment found in the home.
Neighbors say they were suspicious of this kind of activity, but never thought it would happen in such a quiet neighborhood.
"I'm shocked," says Bauske, who has only lived at her home for a month. "At the same time, it's a quiet neighborhood so you never know what you're going to run into. I'm just glad it wasn't right here. With meth, everyone knows explosions could happen so I'm a little more concerned about that, but very, very grateful to Davenport and Davenport Police Department for getting this off the streets and getting neighborhoods back to where they need to be."
Bauske says the Neighborhood Watch Group in her neighborhood is very strong and she wonders if that may have prevented this situation from becoming even more dangerous.
