Fire does $20K damage to Burlington home

More than a dozen firefighters spent about three hours extinguishing and cleaning up from fire in a Burlington, Iowa home.

More than a dozen firefighters spent about three hours extinguishing and cleaning up from fire in a Burlington, Iowa home.

The fire was reported just after 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2012.

Smoke and flames were visible when firefighters arrived at the house in the 1500 block of Gnahn Street.

The cause of the fire was under investigation.  Damage is estimated at $15,000 to the structure plus $5,000 to the contents.

Fire Marshal Mark Crooks said the home was vacant at the time of the fire.

It took about 15 minutes to bring the fire under control.  Fourteen firefighters responded and some remained on the scene until just after 10 p.m.

No injuries were reported.
