A local man was sentenced to nearly nine years in prison after investigators discovered he sold nearly 4,000 pounds of marijuana in Davenport.

Jason Blunt, 36, of Davenport, Iowa, was sentenced March 1, 2012 in federal court.

Davenport Police conducted a controlled buy of marijuana from Blunt in August 2010.  After the purchase, police arrested Blunt and searched his home where they found more marijuana, cash and drug paraphernalia.

Investigators said since 2007 Blunt had distributed at least two kilograms – nearly four and a half pounds – of cocaine and 1,800 kilograms, or nearly 4,000 pounds, of marijuana in the Davenport area.

The Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) says the street value of that much marijuana is at least $4 million and the street value of the cocaine could be $300,000 or more.

Blunt was sentenced to 105 months in prison for conspiracy to distribute drugs.  Blunt will also serve five years of supervised release after he completes his prison term.  He was also ordered to pay $100 to the Crime Victims Fund.
