Police: Pedestrian intoxicated when he was hit by car

UPDATED:  Davenport Police say a man had a blood alcohol level more than three times the legal limit when he was hit by a car as he tried to cross the street.

Rick Alfred, 46, of Floris, Iowa, was crossing Brady Street at 65th Avenue in front of the Quad City Inn when he was struck at about 10 p.m.

Police said Alfred was wearing dark-colored clothing and that the road was dimly lit where he crossed.

Alfred was in the center of the northbound lanes when he was struck.

The vehicle that hit him was driven by 19-year-old Cody Asuncion of Davenport, Iowa.

Police said they cited Asuncion for driving on a suspended license and for no insurance.

Police said Alfred’s injuries were serious but not life-threatening.  He was taken by ambulance to an area hospital.
