An Iowa City woman is charged with child endangerment after her 22-month-old son was found to be legally drunk.

Natasha Kriener, 26, was held in the Johnson County Jail after she surrendered to police February 17, 2012.  She was held on $20,000 cash-only bond.

Police reports said the toddler had been in Kriener’s care all day before the child’s father picked him up for visitation Wednesday, February 15, 2012.  When the child reportedly was crying and appeared to have poor balance, the father took the boy to a hospital.

That’s where it was determined the 45-pound toddler had a blood alcohol level of .097.  The legal limit for an adult to be found intoxicated is .08.

Kriener, who was appointed a public defender, was still in custody Tuesday morning, February 21.  She was next due in court for a preliminary hearing February 28, 2012.
