Two men were hospitalized after a bar fight in which one of them was stabbed several times in the head and neck.

It happened at a bar called Just Friends, 92 Main Avenue in Clinton, Iowa.

Police said they responded to a report of a fight outside the bar just after 1:30 a.m. Saturday, February 18, 2012.

Officers arrived to find one man with multiple cut and stab wounds to his head and neck.  They stopped a man who allegedly ran from the scene and he also required medical treatment.

Police said the man who ran is 30-year-old Michael Piantieri.  Piantieri was later arrested and charged with attempted murder, two counts of going armed with intent and aggravated assault.

Online records show Mr. Piantieri was supposed to be on parole until October 2012 after being released from prison in Iowa.
