Two 16-year-old Davenport boys were arrested for allegedly beating a 68-year-old man to steal $60 from him.

A family friend tells News 8 the victim, Randy Ward, is recovering from serious injuries, including a broken jaw and fractured skull.

The police report says the two boys planned the crime about an hour and a half before it happened.

The teens reportedly followed the victim into the IH Mississippi Valley Credit Union at 2102 East Kimberly Road in Davenport, Iowa, just after 11 a.m. Thursday, February 16, 2012.

The victim withdrew $60 and left, followed by the two suspects.

“As the victim was walking down a path to the bus stop in the 3800 block of Eastern Avenue, the defendant and co-defendant attacked the victim by hitting him in the face which caused the victim to fall to the ground,” the police report said.

“Once on the ground, the victim was kicked in the face causing serious injury to the victim,” the report continued.

The teens then reportedly took the victim’s wallet and the $60 cash.

The two teens were arrested later that same afternoon.  They were each charged with robbery and with conspiracy to commit a felony.

"We have to see if Randy is able to go home alone," said family friend Rose Rockstroh. "The only thing we can try to do is see if we can get some justice for him."

Police records show one of the teens is a student at Davenport North High School.
