QC Chamber Holds Annual Forum With Elected Officials

The QC Chambers held their Annual Illinois Legislative Forum today.

The QC Chambers held their Annual Illinois Legislative Forum today.  The event provides an opportunity for business leaders and community members to hear from elected officials about the issues soon to be addressed in the spring legislative session.

Senator Mike Jacobs and Representatives Rich Morthland, Pat Verschoore and Don Moffitt were all in attendance today.

Scott VanDeWoestyne of the QC Chamber said they use this event as an opportunity to talk to the legislators about the issues needing to be addressed in this next session that are important to the area businesses and people.  He said he hopes Illinois legislation’s “top priority this year is stabilizing its budget.”

Representative Rich Morthland says the officials this session must continue to move forward with job creation.  “We’ve been 48th in the nation for several years in job creation; we need to turn that around if we want our state’s economy turned around.”

All of the elected officials said that the budget, pension reform and job creation are top issues to be addressed this spring session.

The event was held at the Stoney Creek Inn in Moline and was sponsored by Exelon Nuclear-Quad Cities Generating Station and Genesis Health Systems.
