The latest polls show Mitt Romney with a commanding lead in Iowa but climbing the polls is Senator Santorum.
For the third time this political season, Presidential hopeful Rick Santorum brought his faith, family and freedom tour to Muscatine.
“We want to restore and revitalize rural and small town America. We want to create opportunity for non-college educated people to get a job and rise in society,” said Santorum.
The former Pennsylvania Senator answering question from voters themselves including his view on gay marriage.
“It’s important to value the institution of marriage because the institution of marriage is when men and women bond together for the purpose of having and raising children,” said Santorum.
Although early on many Republican voters dismissed Santorum as a candidate, lately he’s made a surge in the polls. Voters Thursday, December 29, 2011, showing their support through signs.
“It says no surrender Rick Santorum for President. I think based on his experience and he’s come up with a lot of Democrats in the past I think he’s in this for the fight. I think he’s a warrior and what we need for this campaign and history,” said Santorum supporter Joe Flanders.
Behind Mitt Romney and Ron Paul in the polls, Santorum is putting all his energy into the hawkeye state, moving his entire family to Iowa int order to meet residents in all 99 counties.
“He stands for a lot of the same values and moral values my husband I stand for,” said Joy Falk who plans on caucusing for Santorum.
Santorum is now hoping to appear to middle class conservatives as well as undecided voters.
“I’m still looking. He’s a maybe but still waiting,” said undecided voter Clyde Evans.
Santorum has said if he comes in last at the Iowa caucus he will drop out of the Presidential race.
