Last year’s Insight Bowl Offensive Player of the Game will miss the 2011 Insight Bowl after being suspended for disciplinary reasons.

The announcement came from the University of Iowa Athletic Communications office Tuesday, December 20, 2011.

Sophomore running back Marcus Coker “will not travel with the team to Tempe, site of Iowa’s Dec. 30 game against Oklahoma,” according to a statement from the university.

“The issue involves University of Iowa policies and has resulted in Coker being in violation of the UI Student-Athlete Code of Conduct,” the statement said.

University officials did not specify the nature of Coker’s alleged violation.

Coker set Iowa bowl records for rushing attempts and rushing yards in the Hawkeyes’ 2010 Insight Bowl 27-24 victory over Missouri.
