DAVENPORT, Iowa — A teen, chased and shot by police after shots were fired into a crowd at the Mississippi Valley Fairgrounds, was found guilty of assault on a police officer.

Michael Cross, 18, reportedly led police on a pursuit after someone in his vehicle fired a gun into a crowd August 7, 2011.

The pursuit ended on the Centennial Bridge.  Officers on foot fired shots at Cross when he used his vehicle to ram police cars and nearly run over officers.

Cross was hit three times.  None of his three passengers were shot.

Mid-trial, Cross pleaded guilty Tuesday, December 13, 2011 to operating while intoxicated.  Prior to trial, he also pleaded guilty to driving while suspended and to running a stop sign.

A jury found Cross guilty Wednesday, December 14, 2011 of assault on a police officer with a dangerous weapon and possession of marijuana.

Sentencing was set for a later date.
